Training Details

The Certified Library Classification Professional (DDC, LCC & NLM Classification) training is a comprehensive, hands-on course designed for librarians, cataloguers, information professionals, library assistants, Library and Information Science (LIS) students, and technical services staff who want to develop professional expertise in library classification using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC),Library of Congress Classification (LCC), and National Library of Medicine Classification (NLM Classification) systems. The course covers the principles of library classification, notation, number building, subject analysis, classification schedules, auxiliary tables, Cutter numbers, call number construction, and practical classification of print and digital resources. Through practical exercises and real-world case studies, participants will gain the skills needed to classify library materials accurately and consistently using internationally recognized classification systems for academic, public, special, research, and medical libraries. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their competency in professional library classification using DDC, LCC, and NLM Classification.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria Applicants should meet one or more of the following criteria: Bachelor's degree or higher in Library and Information Science (LIS) or a related field; or Current undergraduate or postgraduate student in Library and Information Science. Librarians, cataloguers, library assistants, and information professionals. Documentation officers, archivists, and metadata specialists. Anyone interested in technical services and library classification. Prerequisites Basic computer skills. Basic understanding of library operations is desirable but not mandatory. Knowledge of cataloguing concepts is an advantage but not required.
