Cataloguing Professional (RDA & AACR2)

The Certified Cataloguing Professional (RDA & AACR2) training is a comprehensive, hands-on course designed for librarians, cataloguers, information professionals, library assistants, Library and Information Science (LIS) students, and technical services staff who want to develop professional expertise in library cataloguing using Resource Description and Access (RDA) and Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Second Edition (AACR2). The course covers the principles of bibliographic description, authority control, MARC21 bibliographic and authority formats, descriptive and subject cataloguing, classification integration, access points, corporate and personal authors, serials, electronic resources, audiovisual materials, and cataloguing best practices. Through practical exercises and real-world cataloguing projects using integrated library systems, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to create accurate, consistent, and internationally compliant bibliographic records for academic, public, special, and research libraries. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their competency in professional cataloguing using RDA and AACR2.

Eligibility Criteria Applicants should meet one or more of the following criteria: Bachelor's degree or higher in Library and Information Science (LIS) or a related field; or Current undergraduate or postgraduate student in Library and Information Science. Librarians, cataloguers, library assistants, and information professionals. Documentation officers, archivists, and metadata specialists. Anyone interested in technical services and library cataloguing. Prerequisites Basic computer skills. Basic understanding of library operations is desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with MARC21 or an Integrated Library Management System (e.g., Koha or PMB) is an advantage but not required.
